Pinot Gris is one of the original aromatic white wines produced by Amisfield . The 2013 vintage is an exceptional wine, fruit was hand picked and whole bunch pressed.
The style is Alsatian inspired, the essence of this wine is texture complimented by intricate aromatics
The instantly appealing 2013 vintage (4.5*) was estate-grown and hand-picked at Pisa, in the Cromwell Basin, and mostly fermented and lees-aged in tanks; 30 per cent of the blend was fermented with indigenous yeasts in large, seasoned French oak barrels. One of the best releases yet under this label, it is a refined wine, scented, mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with excellent depth of peach, lychee, pear and spice flavours, a sliver of sweetness (9 grams/litre of residual sugar) and a lingering finish. 4.5 Stars - Michael Cooper, May 2014
30% fermented in large French barrels. Tasting well, just off dry and well rounded with a softness to the fruit which is immediately appealing. Good on its own or with early white meat or fish courses. Good varietal statement. Enjoy from now into 2017. Peter Saunders, WineNZ Magazine, May 2014
Aroma
This wine is multi-layered expressing fresh vibrant aromatics of ripe pear and nectarine with a hint of mace spice.
