Winery Tasting Notes
Allegory Wines are made by Howard Park, a family-owned winery founded in 1986, and one of the state’s best-respected producers of fine wine. Howard Park have a unique combined expertise in both the Margaret River and Great Southern regions, and by carefully blending selected parcels of fruit from each, they allow Allegory to capture the essence of Western Australia.
Well, Margaret River grapes are more fruit forward, while Great Southern is slightly less fruit driven, leaning towards the herbaceous end of the grape flavour spectrum.
Blended together, the two regions create a masterful play of fruit and linear precision. In this particular wine, the Sauvignon Blanc comes from the cooler Frankland River and Mt. Barker areas of Great Southern, where it attains nice, tightly knit herbal notes. The Semillon is sourced from vineyards in Margaret River, where it becomes a bit fleshier. When combined, the wine sings in both alto and tenor voices. Sublime really.
