The grapes for this Chardonnay came exclusively from our Wildcat Mountain Vineyard, owned by Steve MacRostie and his partners Nancy and Tony Lilly. Here the vines dig into the sparse volcanic soil and stand firm against the strong winds that race in off of the Pacific Ocean most afternoons. This fog-shrouded mountaintop vineyard is a classic Sonoma Coast site, cool and challenging, and produces wines of great distinction.
"Rich and creamy, well-oaked and complex, with a mix of peach, tangerine and nectarine flavors that are pure and silky, ending with a dash of cedar. Drink now through 2016." 90 Points - Wine Spectator
Colour
Pale gold in colour.
Aroma/Palate
This wine exhibits typical Wildcat minerality with floral honey on the nose, and is very rich and full on the palate, with creme brulee, Meyer lemon, and toasty caramel flavors. Lush, soft and round on the delicious finish.
Sonoma is one of the most exciting regions producing premium wines today. It has a cool climate with ocean influences, soils that lend complexity, a clear focus on the right varieties for the sites, and a vibrant community of artisan grape growers and winemakers. Since 1987, Steve MacRostie has focused on building a small portfolio of partner growers. 25 years later, a dedicated team work with 21 growers, with several of these relationships going back to the very beginning of the winery.
