Saignée (pronounced sanyay) is a French term that refers to the juice run-off (or bleed) from the soaking red grape skins. This wine was made from 100% Hunter Valley Shiraz grown on the 40 year old Fordwich Sill vineyard.

After the juice is run-off, it is then fermented and treated like a white wine using controlled cold fermentation temperatures. The wine has had no oak treatment and was bottled early to keep it fresh, so you can enjoy it at its best!

Vivid, clear crimson-purple; shiraz juice was run off from the must prior to fermentation, giving this rose the kiss of life, and concentrating the shiraz wine, separately made. It has alluring strawberry and cream flavours on the palate with hints of grounded allspice thanks to the classic Hunter Valley Shiraz character. The wine has a long soft creamy textured palate and is made to be enjoyed while young.

Andrew and wife Lisa Margan established Margan in 1997 in the beautiful Broke Fordwich sub region of the Hunter Valley. The brand has grown to include 250 acres of vineyard, a state of the art winery and a beautiful tasting room and restaurant. Winemaker Andrew Margan handcrafts an exceptional range of single vineyard wines – all estate grown on the ancient red volcanic soils of the Fordwich Sill. His wines are classic examples of the Hunter style, made with a contemporary focus. Restaurateur Lisa runs the restaurant and the tasting room at the winery, both which have been recognised with numerous awards for excellence.
