Full flavoured with black cherry, pomegranate, plums and spice. It has depth and weight but also structured with sappy-satiny tannins and a pleasant savoury texture.
- VIC - Yarra Valley
Oakridge pinot noir has come a long way in recent years. This release was grown in the Seville, Yarra Glen, Coldstream, Woori Yallock and Gembrook sub-regions of the Yarra Valley.
What a complex beast it is too. At an affordable price. Meaty, spicy, gamey – and yet flush with tangy, cherried fruit. Impact, texture, personality and length. Chalky tannin. Needs a little more bottle age but it’s heading in entirely the right direction. Bravo, you might say.Rating 92+, Drink 2014 - 2019+ Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front (28/JUL/2013)
Winery Tasting Notes
Dark bright reds. Summer pudding nose - cherry, wild strawberry and red currants with the faintest hint of vanilla pod.
The palate is juicy, sappy and laced with red fruit and black cherries, adding flesh but brought back into line with twiggy tang of whole bunch sinew.
Overall the impression is of a bright, juicy Beaujo-esque wine that is both easy to drink and refreshing at the same time
