Hand picked Pinot Noir is gently destemmed with minimum berry breakage and placed in small batch open top fermenters with approx. 30% whole bunches. Regular plunging is used to immerse the skins and extract colour and tannin as gently as possible. After pressing the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak Barriques and is matured in oak for 12 months prior to bottling.

Expert Reviews

This has a bright, ripe and yet lilting charm to the fruit aromas on the nose, with some ripe cherries and red fruits, a little plum too, some leafy nuances and sweet spicy oak in the mix - a complex and engaging young Pinot Noir. The palate's fine tannins stretch the entire length and breadth with both energy and verve, carrying ripe and precise red fruit flavours long and even, lifting bright and juicy through the finish. Lovely poise and balance here. Rating 94 - Nick Stock, SMH & The Age Good Wine Guide 2013

An absolutely lovely Tasmanian pinot with effulgent fruit, lovely balance and restrained alcohol levels. Winemaker Jeremy Dineen and his team at Relbia area in a real groove with recent releases and this highlights both quality cool-climate viticulture with its cherry and raspberry notes and also precision winemaking with the French oak perfectly integrated. A very stylish, highly perfumed wine in which the fruit is the undoubted star. Winsor Dobbin, Sunday Examiner (DEC/2012)

Winery Tasting Notes

Dark ruby red

Deep, dark cherry and raspberry fruits complexed with French oak spice and mocha notes, with hints of clove.

Ripe black cherry and wild raspberry fruit are complemented by spicy, whole bunch characters. Sweet fruit and subtle savoury tannins provides an elegant, supple and long palate structure.

Whilst very approachable now, the richness of fruit and fine tannins will reward you, after careful cellaring with a complex, spicy wine. Optimum

cellaring now to 2017.
