Sangiovese was pioneered in Australia by Coriole Vineyards with the first plantings in 1985. It provided a contrasting style to Shiraz, the great tradition of McLaren Vale. It has proven to be ideally suited to the warm maritime climate of the region. The Vita is a selection of the best performing Sangiovese vineyard. Coriole has many small vineyards of different clones and soils. Interestingly different vintages favour different vineyards. Vita is a small bottling that is only produced in exceptional vintages.
- SA - McLaren Vale
- South Australia
Coriole planted its first sangiovese in 1985, pioneering the variety in Australia. This wine has above-average depth of colour and excellent hue; it is very powerful and extremely savoury, more than expected at this alcohol. Certainly demands food - bistecca fiorentina to the fore. Rating 91 – Drink by 2015, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (JUN/2011)
Winery Tasting Notes
