Overview

For those of you familiar with the Nuthouse style, you’ll know that on release these wines don’t always leap out of the glass, they need time in the bottle to open up aromatically. Not the case with the 2009 Nuthouse Pinot Noir!

Expert Reviews

"Light and vibrant, this is juicy with cherry and raspberry fruit, picking up a floral note as the finish lingers enticingly. Drink now through 2017.” -- Rating 91 - Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator Insider (OCT/2011)

The 2009 Pinot Noir Nuthouse is produced entirely from the Lonestar Vineyard. It sports an alluring nose of smoke, exotic spices, incense, and assorted red and black fruits. Elegant on the palate, it is a savory, elegant, spicy offering that has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years. It will drink nicely through 2019. Rating 91 - Jay Miller, Wine Advcoate (OCT/2011)

Vivid red. Fresh red berry and floral aromas, complicated by sexy spicecake and incense nuances. Lively and precise, with sweet raspberry and cherry flavors lifted by tangy acidity. Shows good clarity and snap on the finish, leaving behind cherry and anise notes. 91 Points

Winery Tasting Notes

Aroma

This wine is alive with aromas of darkest cherry, cloves and cinnamon.

Palate

It is no different on the palate—almost explosive in its expression of sweet juicy marionberry, raspberry cordial, and black cherry cobbler framed in subtle oak tannins. De?nitely a big wine, but a big wine with grace and elegance enough to lift you up and put a smile on your face.

Prospecting the new world’s coolest latitudes Brian Croser and Rollin Soles staked a claim in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, a place ideal for late season ripened Pinot Noir fruit. Since 1987 Argyle has produced world class wines from low yielding vines on winery farmed hillside slopes.

The varying elevation of the vineyards allows the fruit to be picked progressively from lower to higher elevations as they reach their peak ripeness. Argyle farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard and Lone Star Vineyard in the Dundee and Eola Hills in Willamette Valley, Oregon USA.

Texas native Rollin Soles has caused a positive stir amongst US wine critics and consumers alike since co-founding Argyle Winery in 1987. His reputation as one of America’s most talented winemakers continues to grow.
