For over 20 years, Petaluma's Coonawarra has been predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, two of the best varietals from South Australia's renowned Coonawarra region.

The fruit for Coonawarra is sourced from two main sites, the Evans Vineyard and the Sharefarmers Vineyard. The average age of vines at Petaluma's Evans and Sharefarmers Vineyards is in excess of 30 years and these hand pruned, close spaced, vertical canopy vines are naturally balanced at modest crop levels of 5 tonnes/hectare of hand picked fruit.

Expert Reviews

A 14-day fermentation was followed by 14 months in French barriques; the bouquet and palate offer full-on no-holds-barred cassis fruit, the oak shouting even more loudly. Needs a few years to settle down. Rating 92 - Drink by 2027, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (SEP/2013).

Winery Tasting Notes

A typical Coonawarra bouquet of dark cherry, cassis and spice alongside leafy touches.

Soft, fine and supple tannins complement the ripe red fruit flavours with hints of cedar adding great complexity to this fruit driven wine.
