Overview

Rich with delicate aromatics and the subtle palate weight of classic Marlborough Pinot Gris. Dry in style with a lush palate and glorious balance. A wine of remarkable intensity.

The fruit was hand picked, chilled overnight, gently pressed, ambiently sett led, racked and cool fermented in stainless steel tanks, with selected yeast strains to enhance the unique aromatics and fl avours.

Aroma

White peach, honeysuckle, Bosc pear and nectar aromas, spicy crab apple strudel with a dollop of cream – a gorgeous scent!

Palate

Dry in style the palate does not disappoint, a potpourri of flavours delivering a soft rich sublime palate full of elegant length, refined spicy pear skin phenolics and oily unctuous texture. Wither Hills ‘Wairau Valley’ Pinot Gris at its best!

Food Matching

Perfect with salty feta and/or washed rind cheeses, or wood smoked river salmon and Thai coconut flavoured dishes – alternatively fantastic on the patio watching the sun go down with great company and repartee.

Winemaker Ben Glover

Ben Glover grew up among the vineyards of Marlborough and has worked at Wither Hills since its establishment almost ten years ago. In April 2007, he was appointed Chief Winemaker for the winery providing him with the opportunity to lead the award-winning winemaking team at Wither Hills.

He has a wealth of wine growing and winemaking experience across New Zealand and has worked internationally in Sonoma in California, Margaret River in Western Australia, Burgundy in France, and Puglia in Italy.

His particular passion is Pinot Noir, and the international accolades earned for the Wither Hills Pinot Noir are a reflection of Ben’s devotion to his craft.

His selection as the New Zealand representative scholar for the inaugural Len Evans tutorial in 2001 and his extensive experience as an international wine judge are testaments to his dedication to quality wine – both winemaker and as an appreciative wine drinker.

Ben has a Commerce Degree from Canterbury University and a Post Graduate degree in viticulture & oenology from Lincoln University.
