Matured for 18 months in French oak. Very good colour; a convincing demonstration of the synergy between variety and region; the bouquet promises - and delivers - cassis fruit, cedary oak, black olive and dried herb. Best of all is its airy elegance. Rating 94 - Drink by 2028, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (JUN/2015).
Blackcurrant and blackberry, aniseed and earth, tobacco and light cedar oak. Medium to full bodied with a rugged ferrous depth, a little chocolate, but also quite serious and tannic – open knit and tactile – redcurrant flavour lends freshness, then it’s generous on the finish with a kind of spacious quality. Nobby wine-speak aside, it presents as honest, regional and beautifully turned out. Drinks well now, and for a decade or so to come. Rating 93 - Drink by 2025, Gary Walsh, winefront.com.au (MAY/2015).
Medium to deep garnet/purple, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has a classic cassis, black plums and cedar nose with hints of cloves, bay leaves and earth. This finely crafted wine has great concentration and richness on the medium to full-bodied palate plus medium to firm, grainy tannins and a long finish. Rating 90 - Drink by 2019, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (AUG/2015).
Winery Tasting Notes
