Shiraz 74%, Malbec 11%, Merlot 10%, Tempranillo 5%. Perhaps a little more serious wine than the name suggests. While providing affordable every day drinking, this wine definitely delivers plenty on the quality front. Drink now and over the next 3-5 years. Ideal partner for a hearty winter stew.

Expert Reviews

Clear crimson-purple, particularly in the teeth of the '11 vintage; there is a lot of spicy, juicy berry fruits, and good tannins to back the fruit. The eclectic nature of the blend (shiraz, malbec, merlot and tempranillo) should not put you off. Good value. Rating 89 - Drink by 2017 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (FEB/2014)

Brand Profile Image

Pikes Vintners is an iconic family owned and operated winery set amongst the hills and valleys of South Australia's beautiful Clare Valley.

Established in 1984 the winery and vineyards are situated in the historic and picturesque Polish Hill River sub region on the eastern side of the Clare Valley. The climate in this area is cooler and the soils are quite different compared to the rest of the region, imparting distinctive flavours and aromas to the wines.

Pikes is best known for its world class Riesling, but is becoming increasingly recognized for high quality, elegant red wines and their ever popular Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend. Pikes have also been a leader in planting new and alternative varieties to the district including Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Viognier. Pikes also produces Pikes Oakbank- a sparkling Pilsener style beer.

The distinctive English Pike fish appears on all Pikes products.
