Perhaps a little more serious a wine than the name suggests. Blend of Shiraz 72%, Tempranillo 12%, Grenache 11%, Merlot 5%. While providing affordable every day drinking, this wine definitely delivers plenty on the quality front. Drink now and over the next 3-5 years.

Expert Reviews

A blend of shiraz, tempranillo, grenache and merlot, 100% Clare Valley-grown. A thoroughly eclectic blend, and there is neither need or ability to unpick the parts; this is a very nice wine with a tapestry of interwoven fruit and tannins, ready now, and a considerable bargain. Rating 91 - Drink by 2015 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (JUN/2013

"Very minty, gumleafy aromas but the wine is intense and lively, with good colour and deep flavour. Crisp mouth-feel and a firm finish. None of the grape varieties dominates. Now to eight years."

Rating 87 - Huon Hooke, Sydney Morning Herald (17/JUL/2012)

Pikes Vintners is an iconic family owned and operated winery set amongst the hills and valleys of South Australia's beautiful Clare Valley.

Established in 1984 the winery and vineyards are situated in the historic and picturesque Polish Hill River sub region on the eastern side of the Clare Valley. The climate in this area is cooler and the soils are quite different compared to the rest of the region, imparting distinctive flavours and aromas to the wines.

Pikes is best known for its world class Riesling, but is becoming increasingly recognized for high quality, elegant red wines and their ever popular Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend. Pikes have also been a leader in planting new and alternative varieties to the district including Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Viognier. Pikes also produces Pikes Oakbank- a sparkling Pilsener style beer.

The distinctive English Pike fish appears on all Pikes products.
