Expert Reviews

"This is just full of delicious flavours, displaying passionfruit, feijoa and lime characters on the nose. The palate is equally engaging with a juicy mouthfeel and an easy-flow texture. This is what a great Marlborough Sauvignon is all about - great fruit intensity and loads of appealing flavours. Love it!"93 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit Issue No. 15 (17/Aug/2010)

Winery Tasting Notes

Intense gooseberry, tomato leaf, fresh cut fennel and red capsicum characters underpinned by the classically pungent melon, guava and passionfruit aromatics, immedaitely fill the senses.

The palate is extraordinarily balanced with bright seamless acidity, concentration of brambly grapefruit, mineral lemongrass flavours and a long supple lingering finish.

Food Matching

A wine with remarkable fruit intensity and style which complements fresh seafood, cured meat and rockmelon, along with Thai inspired salads. Or simply, a fantastic afternoon on the patio with great company and repartee.

Named after the southern landmark range of Wither Hills that border our vineyards, our focused, hands on approach to winegrowing allows us to make a range of wines that reflect our passion for the ‘place where we stand’.

Winemaker Ben Glover

Ben Glover grew up among the vineyards of Marlborough and has worked at Wither Hills since its establishment almost ten years ago. In April 2007, he was appointed Chief Winemaker for the winery providing him with the opportunity to lead the award-winning winemaking team at Wither Hills.

His particular passion is Pinot Noir, and the international accolades earned for the Wither Hills Pinot Noir are a reflection of Ben’s devotion to his craft.
