Winery Tasting Notes
From seductive aromas of densely bright cherry spice and wild brambly berries, the wine opens up to reveal a 'warm fireside' comfort with rich French oak spice on harmony with ripe 'early season' cherries.
The elegance on the palate - a hallmark - is textural displaying supple acid structure, ripe savoury texture and sinew, with hints of morello cherry and doris plum flavours. This is all bound together in fine/long fruit tannins providing rewarding length on the palate.

Our two Pinot Noir vineyards; Ben Marven & Taylor River are strategically sited in the lee of ht Southen landmark range of the Wairau Valley - the Wither Hills. Each vinyard site was hand harvested. The vineyards adn clones were kept separate throughout the process to provide the greatest possible individual expression.
The fruit was destemmed, cold soaked in square fermenters, inoculated with selected and wild yeast strains, drained off at dryness, basket pressed and left to relax for 14 months in French barriques, during which the wine underwent malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was then blended, fined, lightly filtered, and bottled resulting in a classically elegant yet opulent mouth filling Marlborough Pinot Noir.
