Expert Reviews

"Bright, effusive and generous with its raspberry, red cherry, nutmeg and cream flavors, lingering impressively on the polished finish. This jumps out of the glass, not for its size or any single element, but for its seamlessness and focus. ", Harvey Steiman (USA), 03 Jan 09 93 Points

"The 2005 Nuthouse Pinot Noir is one of the major successes of a challenging vintage. It has a slightly aged appearance and is exhibiting an alluring perfume of spice, red fruits, and blueberry. On the mid-palate it has a wide band of fruit atypical for 2005. It has the structure of the vintage so it may well evolve for 4-5 years and drink well through 2020.It is a home run for the vintage." Wine Advocate, Robert Parker (USA), 30 Oct 08 94 Points

"Engaging nose—heady porcini, dark ripe fruit, grapefruit peel, pine needle and underlying savory spice. The lavish, elegant palate has ripe red fruit and sizable, finely grained tannins. Plenty of oak and lingering brown spice on the lengthy finish. Great for the style." San Francisco Chronicle, Lynne Char Bennett (USA), 03 Oct 08 3 Stars

Winery Tasting Notes

The aroma is tumescent with BLUEBERRY fruit! Blended with this wonderful robust blue fruit one can find Moroccan spices, a hint of butterscotch, and believe it or not a sense of gravel earthiness. As the aroma implies and promises, the flavor is concentrated blueberry and blackberry juice, which aids integration of nice spice flavored French oak.

The palate is rich, creamy, and super juicy!

This whopper of a wine seems to have everything. Rocky earthiness, black forest cake, and a surprise raspberry to red cherry flavor in the long finish.

Brand Profile Image

Prospecting the new world’s coolest latitudes Brian Croser and Rollin Soles staked a claim in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, a place ideal for late season ripened Pinot Noir fruit. Since 1987 Argyle has produced world class wines from low yielding vines on winery farmed hillside slopes.

The varying elevation of the vineyards allows the fruit to be picked progressively from lower to higher elevations as they reach their peak ripeness. Argyle farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard and Lone Star Vineyard in the Dundee and Eola Hills in Willamette Valley, Oregon USA.

Texas native Rollin Soles has caused a positive stir amongst US wine critics and consumers alike since co-founding Argyle Winery in 1987. His reputation as one of America’s most talented winemakers continues to grow.
