Expert Reviews

The 2008 Reserve Pinot Noir is darker in color with aromas of violets, incense, cinnamon, black cherry, and black raspberry. Richer and more structure……it will evolve for 2-3 years and offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2020 . Rating 91 - Jay Miller, Wine Advocate (Oct/2010)

This fragrant red offers raspberry, rose petal and white pepper aromas, following through on the open-textured palate and lingering well against lightly sandy tannins.

Drink now through 2018. Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator Online (31/12/2010)

Winery Tasting Notes

The wine has a rich hued Burgundy color with a sparkling brilliance and great clarity.

The wine opens with bright, clean flavors of black cherry and forest berries.

The palate adds complexities of clove and nutmeg oak spice and hints of earthy tertiary flavors coming through. The long, elegant finish is complimented by Argyle’s signature silky tannins.

Cellaring Potential

This is a wine that begs to be drunk now, but with self-control will pay the dividends of complexity and greater depth with aging.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Prospecting the new world’s coolest latitudes Brian Croser and Rollin Soles staked a claim in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, a place ideal for late season ripened Pinot Noir fruit. Since 1987 Argyle has produced world class wines from low yielding vines on winery farmed hillside slopes.

The varying elevation of the vineyards allows the fruit to be picked progressively from lower to higher elevations as they reach their peak ripeness. Argyle farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard and Lone Star Vineyard in the Dundee and Eola Hills in Willamette Valley, Oregon USA.

Texas native Rollin Soles has caused a positive stir amongst US wine critics and consumers alike since co-founding Argyle Winery in 1987. His reputation as one of America’s most talented winemakers continues to grow.
