The full bells and whistles: hand-picked from the best dry-grown blocks of estate plantings; crushed and fermented in static tanks, finishing its primary fermentation and mlf in new French oak barrels; the best 30 barrels were then chosen for this wine, replete with bottle numbers on the labels. It is pure Margaret River cabernet, blackcurrant and cassis threaded through with positive savoury tannins and oak.

It’s ripe but not overly so with blackcurrant and blueberry fruit, aniseed, tobacco and gum leaf, floral top notes and dusty spicy oak. Medium to full bodied, firm and straight backed with clean acidity and firm tannin – the shape of it and the way it bustles through the mouth is really very impressive – has length too. Region and variety both done proud here. Excellent.

Winery Tasting Notes
Appearance: Dark ruby red with an unmistakable cherry hue.
Nose: This wine just oozes both the varietal and regional expressions of Cabernet and Margaret River. Classic leafy red berry fruits with subtle cedar-like oak.
Palate: In days of yore this would have been classified as a fine Claret, such is the elegance and style of this wine. The flavours are of cassis with some rosemary and bay herb characteristics. The oak is beautifully integrated lending cigar box, camphor and chocolate nuances whilst the mouthfeel is one of balance. The finish is soft and long with velvet-like tannins filling in a sense what is a medium bodied wine. Whilst a remarkable wine now, the Prendiville is certainly a wine which will benefit from careful cellar maturation for 15 years or more. A harmless deposit may form in the bottle during this time and decanting is recommended prior to serving.
