Overview

Mouthfilling flavours of ripe raspberry and strawberry. Time in barrel has added texture and structure rather than obvious oak flavours. The fruit flavours are balanced by a good concentration of fine, soft, silky tannins and enough acidity to give definition to the finish which is long and persistent with lingering ripe fruit.

Expert Reviews

"Attractive vibrant hue; incredibly youthful bouquet, unevolved and thoroughly beguiling; layered and sophisticated, with red fruits coming to the fore, but only to be trumped by intriguing aromas of subtle spices and a touch of the forest floor; the palate delivers a lovely velvet-like experience that is truly expansive and the oak merely supports the array of flavours; the finish is surprisingly long. "Rating 96 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2011 Edition

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Bright, deep crimson red with hints of purple.

Aroma

Rich and complex with strong aromas of ripe raspberry and strawberry dominating against a background layer of spicy oak and some savoury/meaty characters that should develop with time in the bottle.

The fruit flavours are balanced by a good concentration of fine, soft, silky tannins and enough acidity to give definition to the finish which is long and persistent with lingering ripe fruit.

Cellaring Potential

The wine is drinking well now and will develop more complex and savoury characters with some more time in the bottle. Could be cellared for another five to six years.
