Sandalford Wines owns one of the largest and oldest vineyards in Margaret River, 93 Ha first planted in 1970. This low-yielding, dry-grown vineyard in the prestigious Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River provides virtually all the fruit for the Sandalford Estate Reserve range. Sandalford spares no expense at any stage of their production to ensure that each wine is a benchmark in it's own right.

2010 was a cracking vintage with some of the most perfect conditions ever seen in Margaret River. Long, slow even ripening conditions lead to marvellous balance between the winemaking parameters of sugar, flavour, acid and secondary compounds such as tannins.

Clear crimson-purple; a wine built for the long haul, its foundation high quality Margaret River cabernet with a central core of cassis complexed by 18 months in new and one-year-old French barriques and ripe, strong tannins. Patience needed and will be repaid. Rating 95 - Drink by 2040, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2012).

Blueberry and blackcurrant, somewhat sweet and jellied, but comes with gravel, bay leaf and slightly gluey cedar oak to taper it in. Medium bodied, fine grained powdery tannin, attractive weight and freshness, a fleshy chocolaty richness and density and reasonable length. Good regional Cabernet. The more time I spent with it, the more I liked it. Rating 92 - Drink by 2021+, Campbell Mattinson, (JUN/2013).

Dark cherry with magenta hue.


This is a very pretty wine with lifted notes of violets, cassis and hints of fragrant cedar.


Medium to full bodied with silky tannins and moderate acidity. Perfumed flavours as for the nose along with the unmistakable Margaret River nuances of choc-mint, rosemary and bay leaf.

Sandalford Wines was established in 1840 and is today privately owned by the Prendiville family.

In the early 1970’s Sandalford was one of the pioneers in establishing vineyards in the Margaret River planting 96 hectares in the sub region of Wilyabrup. It is this old, dry grown vineyard that is the source of the Prendiville Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and the Estate Reserve range of wines. These wines under the winemaking expertise of Paul Boulden are superb examples of Margaret River at its best, winning praise from notable wine writers and a series of trophies and gold medals at both national and international wine shows.

A new addition to the Sandalford portfolio is the Margaret River Range of wines positioned at the “midprice point” of today’s premium market. It is the fastest growing segment of the wine market and with Sandalford’s world class resources in Margaret River, this range has been developed to tap into this consumer trend. The wines are sourced from a combination of the Sandalford Estate and other premium vineyards in the Margaret River with wine styles reflecting current consumer tastes for vibrant, up front varietal flavours.
