Much of our philosophy for the style of wine that we like to produce begins with the vineyard. Firstly, the location of our vineyard is on the traditional prime terra rossa soil of Coonawarra. This is of the utmost importance to us. Secondly, we have a very strong belief in the traditional hand pruning of our vines, combined with an arch cane trellis system. This improves the evenness of budburst, bunch exposure and ripeness, but more importantly, this method of pruning ensures that we have a balanced vine. Therefore the vine will produce fruit of optimum quality. It is this optimum fruit that makes our bench mark wines which reflect the true characteristics of Coonawarra - strong varietal aromas, big flavours and soft balanced tannins.

Bit closed to start but gets some runs on the board after an hour or so open. Whiffs of black currants, dried herbs, bay leaf, mint, eucalyptus. In the palate, lean kind of feel with film of dusty tannins over dark fruit flavours over reedy, firm acid profile. Finishes firmly acidic and a touch lemony. Some pleasure knocked around by acidity. Not sure that zingy, hard acid finish is going to resolve so well, but the dark fruit impact is decent.

Winery Tasting Notes
Brilliant intensity of red colour. This wine shows wonderful rich blackberry aromas, typical of classic coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. The dark berry fruit flavours generously fill the palate with much intensity leaving a long succulent aftertaste. Fine fruit tannins are intertwined with classic French oak characteristics. This is a wine of elegant structure and bountiful classic Cabernet Sauvignon flavour, which cellaring will only enhance.
