Expert Reviews

"Light straw -green; the fragrant, flowery lemon blossom bouquet is a bright start, filled with promise, but it is the persistent intensity of the palate, strongly reminiscent of a top Rheingau riesling, that transfixes ones tastebuds. This is a terrific wine that will flourish no matter how long it gets lost in the cellar. " Rating 96 - James Halliday, Weekend Australian (NOV/2013)

"Fresh, vital and open-textured, with pretty grapefruit and pineapple notes at the core, finishing long, dry and inviting. Drink now. " Rating 89 - Harvey Steiman,Wine Spectator, (JUL/2014)

Winery Tasting Notes

St Hallett Eden Valley Riesling has lemon blossom aromas and pristine lemon and lime flavours with touches of rose petal; all held together by spine-tingling steely acidity and a long mineral finish. The cooler Eden Valley sub-region of the Barossa is the historical home to some of Australia’s finest Rieslings.

Food Matching

A dry, crisp and refreshing Riesling such as this goes best with dishes that have bold flavours complemented by zest! Fresh oysters, sashimi, lamb korma and Thai beef salad all work well. Great with creamy cheeses such as brie. Wash down crisp fish & chips with a glass of this Riesling while watching the waves break.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

In the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia’s best known wine region, lies St Hallett, one of the country’s premier wine producers. Established by the Lindner Family in 1944, for many years St Hallett’s winemaking focus was, like many local wineries, on producing fortified wines. However during the seventies and eighties St Hallett turned to explore the true potential of the Barossa through premium table wines. This has resulted in St Hallett’s elevation as one of Australia’s best producers.

St Hallett is renowned for crafting full-flavored, textured wines entirely from Barossa Valley fruit and is credited with producing benchmark wines of the region such as the iconic St Hallett Old Block Shiraz, made from vines aged up to 100 years old.
