A single vineyard bottle aged wine from a truly distinguished site.

Planted in 1979 on friable red soils over the 1800 million year old calc-silicate basement rocks, the Tiers Vineyard is the lowest and warmest vineyard in the Piccadilly valley. The viticultural paradox of 'cool location, warm site', ensures complete ripening in the cool, sunny and dry conditions of mid autumn. A wine that needs and deserves bottle age, but has the upfront fruit to be a great drink now.

Expert Reviews

"The Tiers 2008 Chardonnay is also a great wine. Perhaps it is the equal of the 2005 and 2007, but perhaps it is superior. It is lean, dry and has great length and it is filled out wonderfully with dry viscosity in the middle palate. It is complex, soft and deliciously textural now, especially for a serious wine that will live for 10 years. This will be one of the great three or four Australian chardonnays of the 2008 vintage. A great wine."Rating 18.7/20 - Jon Jens, Western Suburbs Weekly, John Jens (14/SEP/2010)

Winery Tasting Notes

Pale straw, clean and bright.

Full, ripe, white peach aromas typical of the Tiers Vineyard.

Hints of almond and cinnamon complement the peach fruit, and the savoury finish is typical of the vineyard, displaying a wonderful, long nutty viscous finish. It has wonderful mineral acidity to back up the viscous palate.

Cellaring Potential

It is a wine that needs and deserves bottle age, but it is a lovely approachable wine now.

Food Matching

A luxurious seafood platter involving lobster, tiger prawns and Moreton Bay bugs.
