Our Reserve Chardonnay represents a blend of highly distinctive and mature vineyard sites located on the southern edge of the Mornington Peninsula. The fruit for this wine is sourced from mature vineyards aged over twenty years. The wine is 100% barrel fermeted in French oak barriques, of which 30% is new.
- VIC - Mornington Peninsula
A blend from KBS and Lyncroft Vineyards, whole bunch-pressed, barrel-fermented (25% new oak), 80% mlf, the components blended after nine months, then returned to barrel for a further five months. A juicy palate, Lyncroft seeming to have more influence on the finish. Rating 94 - Drink by 2020 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (MAR/2013)
Winery Tasting Notes
Straw yellow with green tinges.
Lifted citrus fruit and lemon rind with some sweet floral notes. As a young wine there is also a hint of toasty vanilla nutmeg and cinnamon derived from the French oak.
The warmer vintage seems to have enhanced the creaminess of the palate, but there is plenty of firm lemon, lime and grapefruit which becomes more prominent as the wine opens up in the glass. As always on the Mornington Peninsula, but particularly from these two vineyards, there is some lovely mineral-like acid piercing the length of the palate.
