Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

A beautiful bright ruby-red colour.

Aroma

Aromas of puréed raspberry, gooseberry, red currant, blackberry. With ageing, the aromas evolve towards riper notes of syrup, then tobacco and wet undergrowth. Pretty and refined on the nose.

Palate

The flavours belong to those of a great Burgundy. Fresh, velvety texture ("gras"), elegant tannins, well meshed when the wine is mature. Long, refined aftertaste, with some touches of fruit jam.

Vineyard

Rully is the first village you encounter as you leave the southern part of the Côte d’Or. It is a lovely area, known as the Region of Mercurey (Côte Chalonnaise is another name for it).

Vintage Condition

The wines have a refined structure, a good level of acidity and fine, complex aromas of small red berries. The wines present uniform quality. They are elegant, very fruity and with more acidity than in 2006, a sure sign of slow maturation.

The Domaine plants 12,500 vines per ha - one of the highest densities in Burgundy - which encourages root-systems to delve deeper to compete for nutrients. "Those who love the Cote d’Or and its wines have much to thank Drouhin for." Remington Norman, The Great Domaines of Burgundy, 2000.
