Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Beautiful bright ruby-red colour.

Aroma

Aromas of puréed raspberry, gooseberry, red currant, blackberry. With ageing, the aromas evolve towards riper notes of syrup, then tobacco and wet undergrowth. Pretty and refined on the nose.

Palate

The flavours belong to those of a great Burgundy. Fresh, velvety texture ("gras"), elegant tannins, well meshed when the wine is mature. Long, refined aftertaste, with some touches of fruit jam."

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s top-level negociants. More importantly it is one of Burgundy’s finest Domaines, owning some 25.9 hectares of vineyards from Puligny to Gevrey and 37.7 hectares in Chablis.

The Domaine plants 12,500 vines per ha - one of the highest densities in Burgundy - which encourages root-systems to delve deeper to compete for nutrients. "Those who love the Cote d’Or and its wines have much to thank Drouhin for." Remington Norman, The Great Domaines of Burgundy, 2000.
