"After eight years on lees, this wonderful wine is in classic Bollinger style: biscuity, nutty, bready and dried-fruit aromas give notice of an explosive palate with tremendouslymulti-layered flavours. Great impact and length; clean, dry finish. Great champagne but also great wine."Rating 97 - Huon Hooke, Sydney Morning Herald (01/06/10)
"... absolutely stunning with great yeast and lemon aromas, and satisfying vanilla cream biscuity flavours." Tony Love, Adelaide Advertiser (14/Jul/10)
"To me quite different from the 1999 in that it is slightly rounder and softer and with more elegance. Still retains the power but there is great finesse - at least in the bottle we tasted. Its lively and fresh with layers of complexity held with the fine delicate acidity. Traces of honey and lemon with a hint of almond liqueur. Beautifully defined. " Rating 96 - Ray Jordan, West Australian, (05/Jun/10)
"... is beautiful, complex and rich. Its the wine that sings winner and so hedging your bets, keep a bottle chilled just in case. "Jane Faulkner, Age, (21/08/10)
Winery Tasting Notes
From Excellence to The Exceptional
Bollinger La Grande Année is much more than a simple vintage.
It is the interpretation of an outstanding grape harvest, which resulted in a wine worthy of continuing the tradition of the Maison’s prestigious great vintages.
During these special years, grapes from Grands and Premiers Crus are vinified and the blend reveals a beautiful harmony that embodies the intuition felt at the moment of the grape harvest.
La Grande Année develops a majestic vinosity, and intense, rich and complex aromas, whose tonality varies according to the nature of each vintage.
Tasting a bottle of La Grande Année will represent a rare and memorable experience for any wine connoisseur.
