Winery Tasting Notes
Mid-straw with a lemon tint.
A real elegantly styled wine on the nose with classic white stone fruit characters and nuances of subtle vanillin oak.
I’d almost call this medium to full-bodied as opposed to a straight full bodied wine. The reduction in alcohol, oak and malo has had a profound effect on the style of this wine giving it freshness and tightness never seen before. Like the nose the stone fruit characters come to the fore with oak in support. The highlight however is the overall structure and balance of this wine with the acid contributing piquancy to the wine, perfectly in harmony with the fruit-sweetness and mineral textures elements of the palate.
Drinking superbly now it will age gracefully for several more years to come.
2008 was a return to what we would classify as a ‘normal’ vintage in Margaret River. After a hot December and January conditions moderated to give us a perfect three months of harvest with no disease in the fruit and no inclement weather..
