Expert Reviews

"Tatachilla has been a part of McLaren Vale since vines were planted more than 100 years ago. With hints of cloves, rhubarb and blackberries, this typical McLaren Vale cabernet sauvignon has a smooth finish."

Rating Nick Stock, Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine (SEP/2012)

"Lovely example of McLaren Vale cabernet. The nose shows some blackcurrant, plum and spicy clove-like dark chocolate characters. The palate has an inner structural firmness created by those firm tannins, yet there is suppleness and silky fine month feel that is thoroughly brilliant. Great partner to the shiraz from this vintage."

Rating 94 - Ray Jordan, West Australian (JUN/2012)

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Tatachilla has been a part of McLaren Vale since vines were first planted over 100 years ago. Today the bright patchwork of olive groves, avocado orchards and rows of vines bordered by the South Australian coast impart a Mediterranean flavour to this evolving region.

Established in 1903, Tatachilla’s commitment to McLaren Vale has remained strong throughout the years. Its vineyards are scattered amongst the sloping hills and tapered basin of McLaren Vale, with fruit for Tatachilla’s wines sourced from key McLaren Vale subregions: Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale North & South and Clarendon.

Tatachilla’s own Clarendon Vineyard is the heart of Tatachilla, and the basis for our finest expressions of McLaren Vale wine.

Tatachilla’s wines evoke classic McLaren Vale characteristics blended with contemporary Mediterranean cues. The wines reflect the true character of the grapes, balancing a healthy respect for the vineyard with a light touch in the winery.
