An opulent, richly flavoured wine melding the best fruit from shiraz vines aged between 12 – 35 years. The older 35 year old vines contribute about 50 per cent to the final wine.
A celebration of the attributes which have made shiraz so well respected, the wine showcases the quality Shiraz fruit cultivated in Mitchelton's vineyard climate and geology. The wine displays a textured persistent finish, rare in a wine which is so readily approachable. Described by Mitchelton's Winemaking Team as “a savoury vibrant expression of Shiraz in all its glory, it is a wine which melds powerful textures with polished and subtle flavours.”

Winery Tasting Notes
Richly coloured, the 2009 Mitchelton Shiraz has an intense nose filled with black cherry, plum and mulberry aromas with an intriguing twist of Chinese Five Spice and charred oak.
Plum pudding, chocolate, rich berry and black olive flavours fill the palate. Firm but integrated tannins on the finish.
The wine will improve over the next 6-8 years.
