The Enterprise Vineyard sits atop Clare's Terra Rossa Soils. It has produced all the Enterprise Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon since 1974. A great example of a Clare Valley Cabernet of great strength and texture. The wine fills the palate with generous rich berry fruit and great varietal Cabernet character. Fine drying tannins balance with the fruit weight and subtle oak spice.

Expert Reviews

94 Points & Outstanding - "Deep colour; full bodied, dense and concentrated with luscious but dark fruits that have soaked up both tannins and oak." - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2009

95 PTS - "The precision, line and length of this Clare Valley Cabernet stopped me in my tracks. Top class fruit is concentrated and defined but at the same time elegantly light on its feet. Finely structured tannins ensure that it will age incrementally." - Tyson Stelzer, Wine Business Magazine, June 2008

Winery Tasting Notes

2005 Enterprise Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2005 Enterprise Cabernet is a wonderful example of Clare Valley cabernet at its best. The nose displays intense cassis with hints of blackberry and mulberry with classic Clare Eucalypt and spicy French oak. The wine shows wonderful rich and persistent blackcurrant fruit, with sandy but fine Clare tannins balancing the great fruit intensity and cedary oak. A wine with impeccable power, structure and style. VINTAGE: The 2005 vintage once again was a dry year, (less than half the average rainfall), followed by a warm March and April. However, timely rains in January ensured the fruit was in excellent condition. Mild temperatures through the summer and early autumn provided for long even ripening. VINEYARDS: The Enterprise vineyard was planted in 1969 as a dry grown vineyard and has been producing low yields off the renowned “Terra Rosa” soils. The vineyard has produced all the Enterprise Cabernet Sauvignon since 1974. WINEMAKING: The wines are made with as minimal intervention to preserve the natural qualities of the fruit. Simple open fermenters with gentle extraction of flavours through hand plunging 4 times daily. The ferment lasted approximately 7 days before pressing and settling and then transfer to barrel for over 20 months. CELLARING: This wine will benefit from aging for up to 10 years.
