Expert Reviews

87 PTS "Cleverly made, with very pleasant fruit salad flavours and a balanced finish." James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2009

"Blimey this is a wonderful Poachers…this wine is not meant to have a texture as sumptuous as this and it certainly isn’t meant to last for minutes on the finish. There is one hell of a lot of wine here for the money and if you are into ice cold, zesty, citrus and stone fruits then get hold of this brilliant quaffer. Have it on hand when you need a white with the unlikely combo of zing and depth." - Matthew Jukes & Tyson Stelzer, Taste Food and Wine 2009

"The 2008 Poachers Blend is zesty and full flavoured and lasts longer on the palate than we have the right to expect from a white that can be found for around $10 – just what’s needed for a midweek drink during the debt laden festive season." - Robin Powell, WHO Magazine, Jan 2009

“It's chock-full of tropical fruit with a terrific lingering intensity. A touch of fresh-cut grass and some lemony honey characters complete a neat and tidy little drink-now wine.” Ray Jordan’s Top 100 Whites and Sparkling West Australian, Nov 09

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

In the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia’s best known wine region, lies St Hallett, one of the country’s premier wine producers. Established by the Lindner Family in 1944, for many years St Hallett’s winemaking focus was, like many local wineries, on producing fortified wines. However during the seventies and eighties St Hallett turned to explore the true potential of the Barossa through premium table wines. This has resulted in St Hallett’s elevation as one of Australia’s best producers.

St Hallett is renowned for crafting full-flavored, textured wines entirely from Barossa Valley fruit and is credited with producing benchmark wines of the region such as the iconic St Hallett Old Block Shiraz, made from vines aged up to 100 years old.
