Expert Reviews

"Dense red-purple; an equally dense palate, stuffed in a slightly unruly fashion with black fruits, vanilla and tannins. Excellent barbecue red. " Rating 88 - James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2011

"You don’t fine much better than this for the asking price. It’s sweet, soft, fresh and juicy. Damn delicious too. Blackberried and raspberried and give-me-gobfuls please. No great sign of oak, though it hardly needs it – it’s soft enough. St Hallett has jumped out of the box with the 2008 vintage. " Rating 91 - Campbell Mattinson and Gary Walsh, Big Red Wine Book 2010/2011 Authors' Choice

"Chocolaty/licorice-like nose with a peppery lift, and simple, nicely balanced palate with porty fruit and soft tannins." 3.5 Stars - Winestate, Joanne Irvine, Stuart Blackwell, Stuart Bourne, Nigel Dolan & Wayne Dutschke (01/Apr/2010)

"Spicy, earthy and freshly picked mixed field berry aromas introduce a generous mouthful of flavour with spiced black plum and racy pie cherry to the fore. It’s medium bodied, nicely textured and well balanced with a velvety underpinning of smooth ripe tannin. The zesty finish is mouth watering with a shower of red currant and ripe cranberry." 4 Stars - Vic Harradine www.winecurrent.com

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

In the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia’s best known wine region, lies St Hallett, one of the country’s premier wine producers. Established by the Lindner Family in 1944, for many years St Hallett’s winemaking focus was, like many local wineries, on producing fortified wines. However during the seventies and eighties St Hallett turned to explore the true potential of the Barossa through premium table wines. This has resulted in St Hallett’s elevation as one of Australia’s best producers.

St Hallett is renowned for crafting full-flavored, textured wines entirely from Barossa Valley fruit and is credited with producing benchmark wines of the region such as the iconic St Hallett Old Block Shiraz, made from vines aged up to 100 years old.
