Expert Reviews

89 Points - "Bright crimson; some spicy / savoury elements among the main drivers of red and black fruits; good tannins." - James Halliday Wine Companion 2010 - June 2009.

87 Points - "This is chewy, with a layer of fine tannins underlying juicy red berry, cherry and a hint of mint in the flavor profile, lingering on the finish." - Wine Spectator - Harvey Steiman - August 2009.

"Ripe, sweet berry fruit with plenty of body, spices and seriously astringent tannins bode well for the future, while making the wine a great accompaniment for dinner of a slab of beef or something braised." - Jeff Gordon - Melbourne Times - April 2009.

Winery Tasting Notes

Deep red with magenta hues.

A vibrant nose of lifted red fruits of cherry and raspberry, with underlying spices and chocolate.

The delicious red fruits of the nose continue onto the palate, combining with hints of milk chocolate and spice notes. It offers a fruit-driven juicy front palate followed by an even, textural experience with smooth and supple tannins. This generous wine displays why it has established itself as a benchmark Barossa Shiraz.

Food Matching

This wine is perfect company to the usual suspects; grilled rack of lamb or fillet steak. It is also amazingly versatile as it partners a variety of cuisines - try with fragrant curries spiced with cinnamon and cardamom. The 2007 Faith Shiraz can also be enjoyed on it’s own as a glass that bursts with flavour.

Cellaring Potential

Enjoy now or cellar until 2012 for further complexity.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

In the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia’s best known wine region, lies St Hallett, one of the country’s premier wine producers. Established by the Lindner Family in 1944, for many years St Hallett’s winemaking focus was, like many local wineries, on producing fortified wines. However during the seventies and eighties St Hallett turned to explore the true potential of the Barossa through premium table wines. This has resulted in St Hallett’s elevation as one of Australia’s best producers.

St Hallett is renowned for crafting full-flavored, textured wines entirely from Barossa Valley fruit and is credited with producing benchmark wines of the region such as the iconic St Hallett Old Block Shiraz, made from vines aged up to 100 years old.
