Expert Reviews

Gold Medal - Barossa Wine Show 2008 - September 2008.

92 Points - "A regular star among the crystalline Eden Valley Riesling brigade…Super fresh lime and quartz aromas, intense and striking. The palate cuts clean lines of lime juice flavour, pinned into place with zesty acidity sparkling quartzy minerals twinkling away long through the finish." - Tyson Stelzer - Wine Business Monthly - November 2008.

Winery Tasting Notes

Pale straw yellow with tinges of green.

This wine continues to impress with its consistent delivery of a delicate bouquet of lemon blossoms and fresh limes.

The palate is fine, and at this early stage is bordering on austere; infused with citrus flavours, culminating with a lovely zesty acidity.

Food Matching

This wine is delicious paired with freshly shucked oysters, is excellent with Asian style dishes, and will complement all seafood dishes, particularly shellfish with lemon based sauces.

Cellaring Potential

Drink while young, fresh and crisp or cellar for up to 8 years. The freshness of its youth is maintained excellently under screw cap. Typical of great Riesling, this wine has the pedigree, structure and acidity to develop and truly reward those with the virtue of patience.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

In the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia’s best known wine region, lies St Hallett, one of the country’s premier wine producers. Established by the Lindner Family in 1944, for many years St Hallett’s winemaking focus was, like many local wineries, on producing fortified wines. However during the seventies and eighties St Hallett turned to explore the true potential of the Barossa through premium table wines. This has resulted in St Hallett’s elevation as one of Australia’s best producers.

St Hallett is renowned for crafting full-flavored, textured wines entirely from Barossa Valley fruit and is credited with producing benchmark wines of the region such as the iconic St Hallett Old Block Shiraz, made from vines aged up to 100 years old.
