St Hallett Poacher’s Blend embraces the spectrum of aromatics and fresh, tropical fruit flavours typical of Semillon and early picked Sauvignon Blanc in the Barossa as well as a hint of citrus.

"Blimey this is a wonderful Poachers…this wine is not meant to have a texture as sumptuous as this and it certainly isn’t meant to last for minutes on the finish. There is one hell of a lot of wine here for the money and if you are into ice cold, zesty, citrus and stone fruits then get hold of this brilliant quaffer. Have it on hand when you need a white with the unlikely combo of zing and depth." - Matthew Jukes & Tyson Stelzer - Taste Food & Wine 2009 - January 2009.
87 Points - "Cleverly made, with very pleasant fruit salad flavours and a balanced finish." - James Halliday Wine Companion 2010 - June 2009.
Winery Tasting Notes
Pale straw yellow with a subtle green hue.
The nose is brimming full of tropical fruit aromas of passionfruit, melon, pineapple with underlying lime and grassy aromas, as well as hints of lime citrus.
Full flavoured and generous, the palate exhibits an array of fruit flavours that persist over the whole length of the palate, finishing with a twist of lime. The slightly phenolic backbone provides structure and mouth feel, which is balanced with zingy crisp acidity.
This wine marries with the freshwater crustaceans and fish that are regularly "poached" from the creeks and waterways of landowners in the country. The simple, fresh pristine flavours of fresh yabby and blue swimmer crab meat are the perfect complement as are spicy thai seafood dishes. Best served freshly chilled.
We have purposely chosen screwcap closure for this wine to keep it perfectly fresh for the two years after vintage, during which time this wine subtly evolves and offers vibrant and fresh fruit flavours and aromas.
