The grape variety Fiano originates from the province of Avellino in the Campania region east of Naples. The variety takes its name from the Latin 'vitis apiana', as the grapes were so sweet they proved to be irresistible to bees (‘api’).
Fiano was selected in Italy by Mark Lloyd when looking for a new southern Italian variety to grow in McLaren Vale. The first Australian Fiano was released by Coriole from the 2005 vintage.

Winery Tasting Notes
Aromas of citrus, tropical Asian fruit along with a floral lift.
The palate is fresh, lemon and lime zest, with a creamy sherbet like texture. It displays good mouth feel and weight and finishes long and clean.
Fiano’s complexity and distinctive texture will help it complement a wide range of dishes, from light fresh seafoods in summer, to richer shellfish, poultry and even red meat dishes in the cooler months.
