100% Pinot Noir from our own vineyard located at Kayena on the West Tamar. This resulted in fruit harvested in excellent condition with good ripeness and pristine varietal fruit characters.
Best of the best by variety Clear, bright crimson hue; precisely calibrated fruit on both bouquet and palate, with damson plum and cherry flavours; fine, silky palate with a long finish. Rating 95 - James Halliday Wine Companion 2010
Succulent ripe black-cherry aromas lead into a lush, fruit-sweet, very ripe but not overripe or raisiny pinot with elegance, harmony and palate length. It has some tannin and structure as well as lushness. Good value." Rating 92 - Huon Hooke, Sydney Morning Herald (23/NOV/2010)
Simple but very stylish pinot brimming over with sweet varietal fruit and supported by some well-handled savoury oak in the background.4 Stars - Winestate Magazine (Feb/2011)
Here’s a richer Tasmanian take on Pinot, all dark cherries and muscular oak, attractive and assertive. The palate follows with direct flavoursome style packed with ripe fruits and plenty of toasty, meaty oak complexity, brightly buoyed by acid throughout. Impressive indeed! Rating 93 - Nick Stock Wine Business Monthly (JUL/2009)
A nicely balanced pinot with the right amount Of sweet fruit, astringency and oak spice Very food-friendly. Greg Duncan Powell Vouge Entertaining & Travel(SEP/2009)
Colour
Bright deep red with purple/crimson tints.
Aroma
Very attractive ripe fruit aromas with hints of mulberry and bramble berry, a touch of rich fruit cake and a dusting of cinnamon spice. This is backed up by some smoky oak providing additional complexity.
Palate
Ripe up-front fruit flavours of strawberries and red currants with just a dash of more meaty flavours. This intensity of ripe fruit gives round mouthfilling flavours leading to a long gentle finish with fine, silky tannins and excellent length and persistence. Maturation in French oak barriques is showing through with subtle spiciness and just a little extra grip on the palate without in any way dominating the wine. The overall impression is a satisfying level of flavour with great balance and softness.
