St Hugo is named after Johann’s grandson Hugo Gramp a key figure at Orlando Wines. It is the very best Jacob’s Creek Cabernet Sauvignon and as such bears the 'Jacob’s Creek Winemakers' endorser. This St Hugo was first launched in 1983 and has always had a signature style of power & elegance that has continued every vintage.
This wine is made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in South Australia’s famous Coonawarra region, an area considered by many as Australia’s best Cabernet region. The result is a full-bodied wine displaying a rich, textured palate of concentrated cassis and berry fruit flavours with well-integrated tannins.
It’s ideally suited to red meat dishes and in particular, grilled steak or a seasoned lamb rack.

The wine spent 24 months in a mix of new and 1-year-old oak, predominantly French, and a small portion of American, continuing the pattern of recent vintages. The hue reflects the exceptional vintage, the bouquet and palate with a powerful, concentrated and ripe mix of cassis and redcurrant fruits; the oak and tannin management neatly wraps up a juicy mouthfeel of flavours. Winery Tasting Notes
Full depth red with an intense crimson-purple edge.
Lifted and intense on the nose, with vibrant cassis and black fruits layered over well integrated oak-derived notes of cedar, cinnamon and roasted hazelnut.
Richly concentrated fruit flavours combined with stylish and sympathetic oak supported by long, silky, fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity. The excellent growing conditions in vintage 2010 have created the perfect balance between power and elegance. These attributes have become a stylistic signature of St Hugo over many years.
Careful cellaring of this wine for the next 8-12 years will enable further development and integration of the ripe and intense fruit flavours, evolving gradually to reveal additional layers of complexity.
Recommended with herb-crusted lamb rack served with Rösti of sweet potato and basil and a red wine glaze.
