Expert Reviews

Adelaide Advertiser, Tony Love (Australia), 20 Feb 10

Vintage: 2009

"... fragrant, a little lime fruit flavour and tartness, as well as a waft of rose perfume and yep, a touch of ginger spice. No, it’s not a pop hit in disguise but an appealing exotic star."

Australian Golf, Winsor Dobbin (Australia), 01 Dec 09

Vintage: 2009

"Gewurztraminer has fallen out of favour recently, which is a pity as it offers excellent drinking. This Eden Valley wine would be perfect with any post-Christmas stir-fries, as it has exotic aromas with lovely freshness and crispness on the lychee-flavoured palate with subtle hints of spice."

Adelaide Advertiser, Louise Radman (Australia), 29 Oct 09

Vintage: 2009

"Heady aromatics of white jasmine, guava, limestone and rosewater florals. Dry and crunchy in the mouth – lemon and crisp white linens overlaid with spicy lychee, caraway and Vietnamese mint, and a chalky mineral finish. A terrific balance of flavour, texture and freshness."

Courier Mail, Ken Gargett (Australia), 17 Oct 09

Vintage: 2009

89 Points

"... this is gently perfumed with hints of Turkish delight and florals. Broadens across the palate."

Henschke is one of the longest established family names in the Barossa and the Australian wine industry. Johann Christian Henschke first planted vines in Keyneton in 1861, producing his first commercial vintage in 1868.

The tradition of quality winemaking has passed down through the generations – today seeing Stephen Henschke and his wife, Prue, as winemaker and viticulturist respectively.

Awarded "International Red Winemaker of the Year" in 1996 at the London Wine Show, Stephen and Prue were in 2006, awarded Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine's "Winemaker of the Year" in recognition of winemaking excellence in both red and white wines. These Awards recognise the consistent and continuing success of this remarkable couple.

Prue has, for the last 18 years, explored and now employs both organic and biodynamic strategies to maximise the potential for the fruit from these unique vineyards to fully express their individual terroirs.
