A complex wine that changes in the glass as it breathes. It is a substantial wine that still manages to retain a degree of elegance. The palate is rich, soft and powerful with chocolate, cherry and charry oak the main drivers, backed up nicely by silky tannins and enough acidity to keep the palate focused and finish long and persistent.

"Sourced exclusively from estate vineyards out in the Polish Hill River district of the Clare Valley, this is an elegant yet structured and very complete take on Shiraz. The nose starts with a flurry of fragrant, spicy lift (2% Viognier no doubt helps it along), then comes serious dark-fleshed plum, chocolate and spice, earthy edges too. The palate has rich flavour from start to finish, plenty of fine, dense tannins all nicely arranged in long, structured shape, finishing with absolute balance and set to build further complexity in time. Style and grace." Rating 94 - Nick Stock, Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010, Nick Stock (01/Dec/2009)
"Medium- to full-bodied, consistent style loaded with ripe fruit but not burdened with oak, fabulous length of flavour and balance." Rating 90 - Robert Geddes MW, Australian Wine Vintages 2011 (01/Aug/2010)
Winery Tasting Notes
Deep red, almost black.
Super ripe blackberry and plum with spice, coffee grounds and dark chocolate. Also has notes of roasted meats and grilled nuts. Quite complex.

Difficult to see this maturing before 2025.
