Clare Riesling at its best with zesty lemon/lime/grapefruit flavours all wound around a core of tight mineral acidity.

"Pikes 2009 Traditionale Riesling is light straw-colored with an enticing nose of mineral, lemon-lime, citrus and floral notes. Ripe, exceptionally concentrated, and vibrant on the palate, it has the acid structure to evolve for 4-5 years and should drink well through 2019."

"Made from 60% estate fruit, the rest selected from around the region. This has a complete and complex set of aromas, ranging from floral sweet perfume to citrus, peach and green mango. The palate has texture and flavour in spades with an acid line that holds it all tidy through the back. Lingering lime and white nectarine finish."
Sydney Morning Herald, Peter Bourne (Australia), 28 Jan 10
"The Pike brothers, Neil and Andrew are not flamboyant but they are a hard-working winemaker and viticulturalist respectively. Their efforts were rewarded in 2009 with this minerally, lemon-pith-fresh riesling. The palate is taut and fine with an elongated ‘tail’ carried by a steely thread of acidity."
Age, Ralph Kyte-Powell (Australia), 23 Feb 10
"The Pike brothers rieslings are among the Clare Valleys finest, making them Australian classics. There are two versions: this basic wine and a flagship, The Merle. Intense spice, floral, lime and slaty aromas introduce this version, leading to a mouthful that combines focused, sustained, tangy fruit supported by a thrilling lick of acidity."
Sydney Morning Herald, Jane Faulkner (Australia), 27 Mar 10
"Pikes has long made outstanding Clare Valley Riesling and the traditionale doesnt disappoint with its complex spicy, floral aromas, It’s vibrant, with citrus fruit notes on the palate and lively acidity. Most importantly, its delicious."
Winery Tasting Notes
Brilliant, pale green.
Spotlessly clean and a restrained, displaying delicately perfumed citrus blossom and subtle notes of bath powder, green apple and slate.
Crisp, fresh and dry, loaded with zesty lemon and grapefruit flavours wrapped around a spine of crunchy, mineral acidity.
Another lovely Pikes Riesling from what could turn out to be one of the great recent vintages – certainly the best since 2005. Makes a fantastic drink as a crisp, young white, but will take 7-10 years in the bottle for those who like bottle aged Riesling.
