Musk, violets and sour plum jam on the nose with a fine tannic spine with juicy acid. Juicy, succulent fresh berries with a slippery, rich and slightly tart finish.

"In quality terms this is a notch below what we’ve come to expect from this label, though it still makes for excellent quaffing. It tastes of sweet and sour cherries, pepper, mulberries and woodspice. It’s slightly dilute but has the flesh to carry it, and it finishes with a juicy burst." 87 Points - Campbell Mattinson and Gary Walsh, Big Red Wine Book 2010/2011(01/Jun/10)
Winery Tasting Notes
Spicy - Star Anise, violets and pink peppercorns. Briary, wild blackberries and toffee apples.
Blueberries, boysenberries and pomegranate. Dark cocoa powder, tarry, earthy and slightly stalky – just a hint of Campari. Plush and silky settling into a firm long palate.
Braised lamb shoulder, cassoulet and duck leg confit. Cheese; Heidi Raclette, aged Gruyere.
2009 began as a cool season but the heat spike in February presented us with some challenges. Crop yields were very low. Fruit was harvested early with great acidity, a firm tannin and intense bright colour due to the lower than normal juice to skin ratio. All fruit was hand harvested and carefully sorted in the vineyard and winery.
