The early palate is gentle, before the varietal Cabernet fruit gets into the picture, and suddenly it oozes plum, cassis and soy, before subtle oak
and dry tannins provide admirable length and persistence.

"This is mulberried, leathery and full of fresh berry flavour, the extra couple of years in bottle softening it beautifully. It drinks like a charm and should be sought out (and after). Wonderful red drinking." Big Red Wine Book 2009/2010, Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (Australia), May 2009

"Attractive and generous blackcurrant and mulberry fruit with plum tannins and good oak; surprise packet, ready now but will hold" James Halliday Wine Companion 2009, James Halliday (Australia), July 08
The early palate is gentle, before the varietal Cabernet fruit gets into the picture, and suddenly it oozes plum, cassis and soy, before subtle oak
and dry tannins provide admirable length and persistence. A few more years in bottle will be good; we suggest that you drink the ’04 until approximately 2012 – preferably with a classic French provincial dish such as Pot au feu or Cassoulet. Or do what boat-loads of Bordeaux have done for years: cross the Channel - and enjoy it with roast beef and horseradish. The Yorkshire pudding is optional.
Browns of Padthaway are family owned and have been established in the Padthaway region for over 35 years, planting their first vines a quarter of a century ago. The region is cool climate and is characterized by its terra rossa soil and soft artesian water.
The word “Padthaway” is aboriginal for “good water”. Browns of Padthaway were one of the original producers to establish a vineyard in the area which now occupies 280 hectares producing Chardonnay, Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho and Malbec. The family’s wines are crafted from 100% estate grown fruit.
