"Once upon a time, the oak regime at Stonier overpowered its flagships and left me hankering for its entry wines. It’s a brand new day at this hallowed Mornington estates, and Mike Symons has brought the barrels into line, letting pure red cherries, berries, plums and silky, textural tannins sing." Rating 94 - Tyson Stelzer, www.tysonstelzer.com (23/SEP/2011)
Medium red-purple; the alcohol belies the generosity and ripe berry flavours of the wine; that said, it is strongly varietal, with a lovely juicy plum line running through gently savoury/foresty notes on the sides.Rating 94 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2011)
Winery Tasting Notes
Deep and intense ruby red.
Seductive dark fruits, with some spicy fruit and oak lift.
Some brooding blackcurrant and dark plum open up to reveal a highly structured palate, with mouth coating tannins and earthy raspberry complexity. A long and intense flavour packed palate points towards a long life ahead of this very limited release.
