Made with fruit sourced from some of the oldest vines (over 25 years) to achieve elegance, complexity and length of flavour.

A wine with a fine and minerally palate, it is 100% barrel fermented in French oak barriques, of which 30% is new. The wine is lees-stirred monthly during the eleven months it spends in barrel.

Expert Reviews

"The wine comes from two distinctive, mature vineyards on the southern edge of the Peninsula; the colour is deeper than the varietal and the flavours significantly riper, no doubt reflecting the higher alcohol. All in all, it is simply too fleshy."

Rating 91 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2013

"2008 Stonier Reserve Chardonnay is a mighty creation and we in the UK will be skipping the ‘09 and heading straight to this 2010 in the autumn. This is a complete result because ‘10 is the most assured and noble Chardonnay ever to be produced at this iconic Mornington estate. In spite of its youth there is a calmness and elegance about this wine that defies belief. It wears its oak beautifully, like a mink coat, and underneath... Well let’s not talk about what’s underneath."

Winery Tasting Notes

Pale gold with bright green tinges.

Fresh lemon rind with melon and lifted (almost honeyed) citrus fruits. Also some nice spicy nutmeg, French oak and a classical nutty character so intrinsic to the Stonier Reserve Chardonnay.

A mouth filling powerful Chardonnay, with exotic fruits and refreshing grapefruit tang balanced by a creamy (nutty) centre. The full flavoured palate is indicative of the vintage, with great intensity and length.
