Expert Reviews

Just when you think this is a nice, neatly balanced, bottle-developed Chardonnay, the wine accelerates on the back palate and reverberates on the finish and aftertaste, lifting it into the top echelon.Rating

Winery Tasting Notes

The 2007 Petaluma Tiers Chardonnay has the full, ripe, white peach aroma of the Tiers Vineyard.

Cinnamon and almond complement the peach fruit, and the savoury finish which is typical of the vineyard is balanced with sweet fruit and the lovely long nutty finish. The 2007 Tiers Chardonnay has a wonderful mineral acidity to back up the viscous palate.

Cellaring Potential

It is a wine that needs and deserves bottle age, but is a lovely approachable wine now.

Planted in 1979 on friable red soils over 1800 million old basement rocks, the Tiers vineyard is the lowest and warmest vineyard in the Piccadelly Valley, Adelaide Hills. The Tiers Chardonnay is a single vineyard wine from a truly `distinguished site` and as result, offers remarkable balance and ripe white peach aromas.
