Fully ripe, golden Viognier bunches are hand picked from the B&V vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, producing a wine with lovely finesse and freshness. Lovely viscosity and a wonderful mouth feel and flavour are matched by defining acidity and minerality. The mature Viognier wines of the B&V Vineyard achieve a natural balance of moderate growth and low crop on its micaceous schist derived soils.

Expert Reviews

"Very restrained, perfumed and spicy, scented with rose oil, black tea, honeysuckle, cloves and cinnamon, with deep aromas of grapefruit and tangerine, with a suggestion of tropical fruits. Smooth and gentle, with a vibrant expression of translucent, crystalline fruit underpinned by fine phenolics before a long, refreshing and citrusy finish."

Rating 95 - Jeremy Oliver, (03/JUN/2012)

"Petaluma was an early mover with viognier in the Adelaide Hills, and seemed to have a handle on it from the word go. Certainly it has this vintage in the palm of its hand, with apricot and peach the usual candidates, mandarin a fresh and zesty blow-in."

Rating 94 - James Halliday, Australain Wine Companion (AUG/2011)

Winery Tasting Notes

Petaluma Adelaide Hills Viognier has lovely finesse and freshness, with dried apricot and honey.

The palate continues with apricot fruit viscosity and wonderful mouth feel. The finish is distinguished by minerality and crisp, clean acid.

Cellaring, Food Matching

This is an attractive pungent Viognier that deserves to be enjoyed in its youth. It will also reward medium term careful cellaring and drinks beautifully with King George Whiting and Garfish.
