"Theres been some criticism of high alcohol in Australian red wines. It's a complex subject, as even comparatively low-alcohol wines can appear hot and alcoholic, while in others like this beautiful Bowen Estate Shiraz, high alcohol (15 per cent) simply disappears without trace into the sweet, ripe, supple fruit. It might be big, but its still graceful and elegant - a great joy to drink now and probably for a decade or more into the future."Chris Shanahan, Sunday Canberra Times (08/Aug/10)
"... It has juicy red berries, cinnamon, allspice and a voluptuous palate that invites you to have just one more glass. Elegance and power in the same wine, thats hard to achieve and a treat to drink." Canberra Times (31/Jul/10)
"Has excellent blackberry fruit but strong oak intrudes, contributing to the obvious mintiness." Recommended - Lester Jesberg, Winewise (01/Jul/10)
Winery Tasting Notes
The 2008 Shiraz shows bright deeply attractive red colour with purple hues.
The nose is abundant in spicy cherry and berry nuances with fresh cedary leather American oak aromas.
The palate is full, well balanced with flavour and structure with a soft tannin finish typical of our style. A classy wine which will age well, but can be consumed early.
Hearty casseroles, pasta dishes and cheeses.
