5 Stars This is a made for the long haul. Already five years from vintage, the fruit is still bright and the tannins fine and persistent. The mid palate is plush and full of plums from the shiraz, and cassis from the cabernet Canberra Times. Fergus McGhie 23 Sep-09
93 Points. Inky purple colour as befits a reserve Cabernet from Victoria’s Pyrenees region, this has a ripe brambly cassis fruit profile and some stylish French timer that’s nicely integrated. The tannins are fine and juicy, cast in an elegant shape and deceptively ageworthy. Nick Stock Wine Buiness Monthly Mar-09
3 Stars …savoury nose and richly flavoured… Winestate Apr-09
4 Stars. Big dense/licoricey style verging on the porty, with lovely integration of bacony, chocolatey flavours layered with long, grippy tannins. Winestate Special Edition 2008 Dec-08
Winery Tasting Notes
A deep ruby colour, this wine offers intense blackcurrant characters and typical Pyrenees mint flavours with some well integrated toasty, mocha, cigar box notes from the oak. It displays a fantastic balance of fruit freshness and the firm tannins typical of Taltarni, making it perfect for drinking now or cellaring for up to 10 years.
